Create a Mapping to Upload a Multiline Template from One Sheet

The steps below explain how to create a single sheet multiline upload mapping. This is useful when you would prefer to have your multiline uploads in a single sheet rather than separating the header information and the line item detail between sheets. In this example, the ID column is used in case there is identical header information in the FB50 transactions. It is not always necessary to use the ID column if your header information is unique.

  1. Follow the Create a Simple BDC Multiline Template Tutorial and make sure that you have a working FB50 Multiline template.
  2. Open the FB50 Excel file created above.
  3. Copy the line item columns from the second worksheet into the first worksheet between the header columns and the processed column.
  4. Fill the load file with data.  In the first row, fill out the header information and the first line item. For the second row, fill out only the line item information for the second line item. Continue to fill out line item information for as many line items you have for the document. To post another document, fill out the header information and continue the process.
  5. Save and close the load file.
  6. Go to the Upload Mappings page.
  7. Click New Mapping to display the Upload Mapping wizard.
  8. Give the upload mapping a meaningful name and description.
  9. Add the FB50 multiline template that you created earlier.
  10. Add the Excel file that you just modified.
  11. Drag the Excel file from the Data Sources Panel to the Mapped To column.
  12. In the dialog Does your line item data exist in the same data source as your header data?, click Yes.
  13. The Same File Relationship Editor dialog is displayed.  Check the fields that represent the header information. All the fields should be mapped in the Mapped To column in the Upload Mappings page.
  14. If any fields are not automatically mapped, expand the Data Source node to show the columns in the load file. Manually drag the column from the Data Source node over to the corresponding Mapped To field in the Upload Mappings page.
  15. When all the fields have been mapped, click Save.
  16. The new mapping is displayed at the top of the list of upload mappings in the Upload Mappings page. Select the mapping and click Upload.
