User Types

Based on your license agreement, Syniti Data Workbench users can be fixed(named) users, concurrent(floating) users or a mixture of the two.

User Type Description
Fixed or Named Assigned for use on one system only, and provides the user with unrestricted access to enabled features of Data Workbench. On the Manage User/Group Page, fixed license users have a black user icon and show up after activating Data Workbench as auto-generated strings - "17069aa7-b04e-4220-a7f7-5f755a76c6ac", for example. An administrator can change a fixed license user name and password.
Floating or Concurrent A user name and password for a user who belongs to a pool of users. The pool has a maximum size (dictated by the number of licenses purchased) and when the number of logged-in users reaches the limit, no additional users can log in. When a floating/concurrent user logs in, a single license from the pool is used. For example, if you have purchased 10 concurrent licenses, only 10 concurrent users can log on to the system at any one time, although the administrator can add as many users as desired.

An administrator can move a floating user from one pool to another by changing the value in the Concurrent Pool field. The most common pools are Business Pool and Professional Pool.

Roaming Typically assigned to a system administrator, enabling increased flexibility. A roaming user cannot be restricted by being assigned to a pool.
